"To our newcomers," said Dumbledore in a ringing voice, stretching his hands wide and a beaming smile on his lips, "welcome! To our old hands -- welcome back! There is a time for speech-making, and this is not it. Tuck in!" • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Dumbledore had been looking forward to the opening feast all day and found himself humming happily as he walked down to the Great Hall, he wondered how the students would take the news about the Triwizard Tournament coming to Hogwarts this year and hoped the Tournament would be a success. He smiled to a few Professors he saw on the way but didn't stop to chat to them, he needed to have a work with the Headmaster and Headmistress of the other schools first before his own students would arrive to the castle.
After having a conversation with them both he took to his chair in the Great Hall and did not have to wait long for the first of the students to enter into the hall, the first years they would have to wait for a bit longer as they made their first trip here in the boats with Hagrid. All the students seemed to be in good spirits with coming back to the school, happy to be within the walls of the castle once again and to see their friends. Dumbledore knew just how they felt as he remembered back to his days in the castle and how he loved the place. Times back then were very different to times of the now but that feeling seemed to be with every student who came here.
It wasn't long until McGongall came through the Great Hall doors with all the first years, one of which looked like he had fallen in and Dumbledore could not help a chuckle at that as it was not the only student over the years that had fallen in. The Sorting Hat gave them another song this year as always before McGongall explained to the first years what was about to happen and started to call out the names of the students. Each one came up to have their turn on the stool before going off to his or her new house who cheered for them just like all the years previously. McGongall put the stool and hat to one side before taking her seat.
Dumbledore got up to address the students with the news of the Triwizard Tournament. "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts," He started off greeting everyone, "I have a few announcements to make, some of which will sound familiar," He smiled as he went on to mention about the Forbidden Forest being just that, Forbidden and the items which Finch had posted on his door that were not allowed in the castle walls. "We have two new professors this year, instead of just the one. Welcome to Professor O'Callaghan who will be taking over the Care Of Magical Creatures and also to Professor Moody who will be teaching you all Defense Against the Dark Arts." He pointed to each of them and listened to the clapping that the other Professors and some of the students made to welcome the new people.
"The other announcement, this year the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, an inter-school competition with two other magical institutions," He could hear the whispers of the students that knew of the tournament getting excited he went on to explain about the tournament to those that have not heard of it. "Please welcome those from Beauxbatons Academy and Durmstrang Institute," The two schools of girls for the first and boys for the latter came in separately, taking their turns to showing them a little something before the Head of the school would walk in and greet Dumbledore. "Some rules have been changed for this tournament to make it safer, for starters no one under the age of 17 can enter," A loud noise of voices started then as the students didn't seem to like the new rule change.
"Your attention please!" Dumbledore yelled over the noise making everyone go quiet, "Eternal glory awaits the student who wins the tri-wizard tournament. But to do this that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks." He nodded to to someone to bring over the cup which he uncovered for everyone to see, "The goblet of fire. Anyone wishing to enter the tournament merely write their name upon a piece of parchment and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night. Do not do so lightly, if choosen there's no turning back. As from this moment the tri-wizard tournament has begun."
Dumbledore waved his hands at the last word as food appeared on the tables for students and professors alike to tuck into and enjoy. He hoped the people from the other schools enjoyed their feast as much as they do over the years as he went back to his seat to have a conversation with some of the people sitting on his table over looking the great hall. It was to be a shame for no Quidditch to take part this year but there was always next year and those old enough to enter on the teams might like to enter into this tournament instead.

HOGWARTS, HOGGY WARTY, HOGWARTSteach us something please Being back in the magical halls of Hogwarts brought a wash of memories back to Faye as even though it had been less then a decade since she had last walked these halls it felt like and eternity for her. And this year there was the return of the Tri-Wizard Tournament which hadn't been held for over a century. She believed it to be one of the reason that she had been asked to help out at the school by taking the role of the Care Of Magical Creatures professor. She was well suited for the job as she had various contacts with many of those involved with magical creatures so would be able to show the students a wide variety of magical creatures though either having animals brought into Hogwarts or arrange port key trips to see them for the more dangerous creatures such as dragons. And with her beginning a dragon handler and a avid visitor to the Welsh Green preserve she was qualified to take them there to see the dragons.
Though of course she wouldn't be taking and ickle students there like first and second years as the confrontation with a dragon may be a little two much. But now it was time to met the new cast of Hogwarts and all the new faces there was as not even any of the first years would be her from when she was a seventh year. And there are bound to be a few changes in the staffing. Though talking to the ones that had taught her would seem rather strange at first since she will still have the notion to call them all Professor instead of by the names. So slipping into her robes which she really hated wearing as she was a muggleborn witch and still wasn't used to wearing them as she could never get them to sit right. Though she knew she couldn't waltz down to the great hall in a floral top and jeans as she would have liked. So she put on a set of pastel peach robes with a slightly smokey look to them before she made her way out of her quarters.
As she reached the lower floors she found she passed more of more students all heading to the hall like her in there respective robes of their houses. Faye herself had been a Gryffindor and a rather feisty one at that. She was sure Professor McGonagal will remember the time she had to take Faye to the hospital wing as she had been messing around in the girls door jumping from bed to bed for the amusement of the other showing of her circus skills. Though she fell rather badly and broke her leg in two places. It had taken a while to heal and she had spent the remained of the term and crutches but she had a good laugh. Entering the hall she walk gracefully down the center isle though the tables up to the staff table at the front of the hall where some of the other professor where already seated. She took her seat and with a sigh sat as she watched the rest of the student file in before the feast began.
Professor McGonagal lead the first years in and they went though the usual sorting procedure. Faye clapped as each was sorted but when ever a new Gryffindor came about a smile came to her face as she still favored her old house. Though she knew she must not let that blind her judgment in her lessons as she would have to be fair to all her students including Slytherins. But know as all the first years had been sorted professor Dumbledore made some announcements for start of year. He made the usual ones of the forbidden forest and such before moving on the the new professors. She was glad to find she wasn't the only new professor at the school though she wasn't surprised to learn the other post being taken up was Defense Against the Dark Arts as she had learned that they had been having trouble holding one down for more than a year.
Then came about the announcement of the Tri-Wizard tournament which would be replacing the quidditch for the year. Then came the entrance of the other schools which where Beubatons Academy for girls and Durmstrang's Institute for boys. Both gave marvelous entrances. Faye had briefly been to Beubatons and her travels though France a few years ago while she was studying Veela's as they had offered the give her shelter in there halls as an honorary guest which she had found very gracious of them. Then as everyone settled after the feast was began after a small speech about the tournament itself. A variety of food appeared on the table in front of her and Faye began to tuck into some of the kitchens delicacies as she chatted to the professors seated around her. Another year older A little bit stronger A little bit wiser than A year ago today Faith hoped the new and returning Prefects with the new Heads were getting on ok in the Hogwarts Express, They should be having that meeting about now, She thought as she looked at her muggle watch she had on. Looking around her office she saw she had everything in order which did not surprise her, it was time to start heading down to the Great Hall for the feast which Faith had been looking forward to since coming back to Hogwarts. "Been get going then," She mumbled to herself as she made sure she looked ok before opening the door to her office and making her way out into the Corridors.
It was always so strange to see Hogwarts so quite and empty, but Faith knew that would soon change with all the students coming to the Castle very soon. She did not met any of the Professors on her way to the Great Hall and knew they were already there or just about to come down themselves. "Dumbledore," She nodded her head in greeting to the Headmaster, she could not get used to calling him anything other then his surname, that had stuck with her having had the man as her Headmaster while at Hogwarts. It seemed he had given up on getting her to call him Albus too.
She took a seat at the table, McGonagall always sat on his right and Faith on his left with them three being the main staff at the castle. Rae usually stand on her other side with them being close friends. That or Edward who was her friends husband. She said a brief hello to Faye one of the new Professors for this year at Hogwarts and hoped this won't be the woman's last as she seemed very nice and friendly. I wouldn't mind getting to know her better, always nice to have friends on the staff for the months we are at the school.
Faith watched as the first years got sorted and was always glad when one got into Ravenclaw her old house. She then listened to what Dumbledore had to say to the students this year, the first few things were things that even he mentioned while her days at Hogwarts but the news about the Triwizard Tournament. The reactions of the students were ones she was expecting, especially at the rule changes. Faith hoped that someone from her own house would think about joining the Tournament. There was going to be much talk about this for days to come, She thought as she tucked into her food. As the World Turns These are the days of our lives These are the things that we must go through Day by day Raelyn Stone walked from her tower classroom and office where she had been all but sleeping for the past few weeks. She had just finished the last of her preparations for class and was now dressed for the feast. She always dressed well for the feast, and usually in some bright color, in hopes of sticking out. This year she wore a formed pastel blue dress that had capped sleeves and only a slightly lowered so that it was not a t-shirt neck, but not revealing. She had chosen to accompany it with bright Sapphire shoes with bronze piping and a silver bird clipped to the front. The shoes were about four inches tall and had a rounded tip at the toe that covered a little more than her toes. The blue part of the show was polished non-leather and looked almost plastic but was more comfortable than plastic. The bronze piping was metallic leather like product. When one looked at the heel and the extra lift under the front of the shoe, they would see blue and bronze clouds constantly swirling around each other.
As Rea reached the end of the last bit of steps she looked to the Great Hall and realized that she had plenty of time before the students showed up. She managed to find Madam Hooch and strike up conversation with her. She was a sweet woman and they chattered excitedly about what would be happening this year both in their lessons and with the entire school. Dumbledore waved at the two of them as he hurried past, both waved back but they were unsure if he saw them. ”Must be talking to the other schools.” Rolanda had said and Rae agreed that made the most sense. The talked for a little longer and Rae asked her if she would be helping with the tournament as she was usually ready and willing to help with Quiddich. She relented that she was, but not in her usual, overtly present, way. She would be helping from the sidelines. After that the two women noted the time and that the children would be there soon so they both parted ways to sit in their respective places in the front with the teachers. Rea waved to Faith, and Faye. The two women she had spent time with over the few weeks before classes started, one of which had already been a friend, the other was new. Rae made a mental note to ask her about what she thought of the feast from the teaching area after it was all over.
Not long after students trickled in and were sorted. She ran her eyes over the stalk trying to note some people she would hope to see in her classes. She saw most of the faces were familiar, and she knew most names, but she could not put them together in such a large group. Still most, if not all, students had returned, so she was happy with that. Soon after the sorting, Dumbledore made the announcement about the Tri Wizard tournament, making Rae look over the crowd in hopes to read the reaction. There was a lot of excitement, some fear, and all of it seemed to have completely forgotten that this was replacing Quiddich. She smiled brightly at the reactions. She was excited and interested to see who was going to be getting the spot of Champion at their school, and for the tasks too. There was a thud as the doors few open and Rea’s head shot up in surprise.
There stood several rows of beautiful young girls. They each ran down the aisle before pausing and doing choreographed moved. It was obvious most if not all of them were veela, or part veela. All seemed to have enchanted the boys of Hogwarts completely. They really were beautiful and each talented. After the large throng, came a dancer and a gymnast. They did amazingly at Rae watched the group enthralled by them before she even noticed the giantess. Oddly there was a strange beauty about her elegance that Rea almost wished she had. All too soon it was over and the school’s children took their seats. Next were the Durmstrangs, putting on another performance. It was a lot of heavy dancing to polar opposite of the light airiness of the Beauxbaton girls. They were all handsome as well. There was one thing for sure, the Hogwarts students would enjoy the romantic options this year.

Post by Margaux Lefevre on Aug 21, 2010 22:06:11 GMT -6
(Les feuilles mortes se ramassent à la pelle, Les souvenirs et les regrets aussi Mais mon amour silencieux et fidèle) Sourit toujours et remercie la vie. Je t'aimais tant, tu étais si jolie. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Margaux fiddled nervously with the tie she'd carefully wrapped around her throat. A half windsor that rested casually against the dip of her collarbone and made it look like she had a bosom like Vera's. Either way, it was a very attractive tie. It was a men's tie, which Blanche had teased her affectionately for, but Ambre promised solemnly that it went well with the uniform.
"Besides," Ambre had promised in perfect English, "silver is your color."
Non, Margaux had thought bitterly, Je n'ai pas une coleur. But she had smiled and thanked her sister in halting English.
Margaux sighed and danced her fingers over her face. She was glad to be sitting now at least. Predictably, Vera and Blanche had been as centered in the attention as possible. She and Ambre had attempted to make themselves as invisible as possible, not quite as frivolous as their classmates. However, when they had reached their respective seats, Ambre had run off to her friends. Margaux was similarly inclined and would have joined her own friends...if she had some. Which she didn't.
The Hogwarts head master (Dum-belle-dor?) spoke rapid English too quickly and too accented to understand any of it. She caught a welcome and the occasional word or two, but not enough to string them together. By the time food sprung before her she was so thankful for the interruption in her loneliness and homesickness, that she didn't mind the oddly prepared roast or the ghastly lack of red wine. It was food. Good food and she was never more at home then when she was full of good food. She sighed and hoped Vera would at least leave her alone until later on in the evening.

So why don't you run, why don't you run So why don't you run back to schoolBack to school The train ride to Hogsmeade with the carriage to the castle went along like it had the years before. She had met up with some of her Hufflepuff friends on both journeys who she had missed and was able to catch up with them all with what they had all been doing over the summer holidays. A couple of them she had been able to see in the holidays but still it was nothing like them all meeting up like this as they made their way back to Hogwarts. Kate had a smile on her face as they walked towards and inside the Great Hall, she looked up at the ceiling to see what it was like for today. She had always loved how it looked like the outside sky with all the floating candles everywhere.
Kate and her friends sat down at the Hufflepuff table which they were soon joined by some other Hufflepuffs who they greeted and talked to before the first years would make it over to be sorted. It was great seeing everyone again and finding out what people had been up to since they had all been together. Rumors had been going around about Quidditch being banned because of something else that would be happening at the Castle this year but apart from those bits of information no one else seemed to know what was going on.
One of her friends spotted Hagrid coming in to join the Professor table and they didn't have to wait long for Professor McGongall to walk into the Great Hall with all the first years following her. She smiled at a couple of them who looked to be pretty scared and wondered which ones would be joining her house. Sometimes her friends and herself liked to guess which ones would be joining them, though they didn't always get it right. The sorting hat sang another song which all the older students clapped at before McGongall started to read out the names to sort the first years. The Hufflepuffs clapped and cheered whenever one came to join their table.
Before Kate knew it, the sorting was over and Dumbledore was standing up to make his start of year speech like always. "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts," She smiled at this, it was nice to be back in the castle. She listened to the normal announcements that she had heard every year upon coming to the Castle and clapped at the new two Professors they were having this year. That is strange, we usually only get one new Professor, Kate thought before pushing it away from her mind. "The other announcement, this year the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, an inter-school competition with two other magical institutions,"
People around her on not only her table but all the others started whispering and talking to one another. Kate was sure she had heard of this from someone before as she tried to remember back to who that was. She wondered who the other two schools would be but didn't have to wonder long as Dumbledore asked them to welcome The Beauxbatons Academy and Durmstrang Institute. Kate watched them make their own two separate and interesting entrances and clapped at each one. Must be strange going to a all girls school, she thought not able to imagine what it would be like, she was so use to guys being at Hogwarts.
Dumbledore spoke again adding some information and new rules about the tournament which some of the students didn't like. She realized she was old enough to enter but did not want to. It did not sound like something she would do but knew of at least two people in her year that would try to enter. Kate looked over at her twin sister who was actually already looking in her direction. She smiled at her and wondered if her sister would put her name in or not. Some of the fellow Slytherins might make her do so and if she did, she just hoped her twin would not be chosen.
"As from this moment the tri-wizard tournament has begun." The food appeared at that moment and it took no time at all for everything to start talking of what had just happened as they filled up their plates with the delicious food that the feast always had every year. Kate at first listened to the conversations going around her and only added in her thoughts and feelings now and again, including saying that she would not be entering herself which did not surprise the ones that knew her well in Hufflepuff. Back to wizards and witches, and magical beasts, To goblins and ghosts and to magical feasts. It’s all that I love, and it's all that I need. HOGWARTS ✠ HOGWARTS I think I'm going backThe twins had a great time on the train to Hogsmeade with their friends Ali Spinnet and Lee Jordon. They had managed to get one of the carriages for themselves too along with a couple other girls off their Quidditch team. They had talked about the rumours of the sport being canceled this year as they made their way towards Hogwarts. But it seemed no one else knew anything more on the rumour then they originally did from their families weird remarks on the platform.
The walked with everyone else to the Great Hall and found some seats at the Gryffindor table, their sister and the Golden trio sat down not far from them making it easy to spot the Weasley's at the table more so than normal. They caught up with some Gryffindor mates they hadn't seen over the holidays until it was time for the Sorting to begin, starting with the hats song. The twins cheered and clapped whenever someone joined their house, sometimes whistling to make even more noise then everyone else.
After that Dumbledore got up to welcome everyone to Hogwarts and start off with the normal every year announcements about the things that were banned and not to go into the forest. The sort of things the Twins never listened to and did anyway, much to the annoyance of Filch. They took a interest to one of the new Professors, a Mad Eye Moody that they had heard about from their father. "That Mad Eye?" Fred half asked not really needing to with the Professors fake eye clearly spinning around. "Must be," George said.
"The other announcement, this year the school will host the Triwizard Tournament," This is what the Twins and everyone else had been wondering about as soon as those rumours had spread out about Quidditch being canceled because of something else that would be happening at the Castle. When the two schools came into the Great Hall they couldn't help but laugh and roll their eyes towards each other at Ron's voice of declaring Krum was there. "Young love," Fred sighed pretending to be all loved up. The twins had started whispering to each other and thinking about joining the Tournament, with the prize money they could easily start up their own joke shop.
Those plans soon went down hill as Dumbledore spoke again, "Some rules have been changed for this tournament to make it safer, for starters no one under the age of 17 can enter," Uproar around the Hall at the new rule change, "What?!" The twins said together, "Rubbish!" They yelled over all the over voices but it was not like it helped for them to be heard over all the other noise of people who also disagreed. "Your attention please!" Dumbledore yelled making everyone go silent as the twins started to rethink their original plan.
Both twins couldn't help but say a 'Wicked' as Dumbledore said how dangerous the tasks were before finishing his speech making and declaring the tournament open before making the food appear. Their brother Ron was the fastest person to get to the food as everyone started piling up their plates with the lovely foods around them as conversation took off about what had just been said. People talked about if they were to enter or not, what they thought the tasks could be. bold GRYFFINDOR, from wild moor, fair RAVENCLAW, from glen, sweet HUFFLEPUFF, from valley broad, shrewd SLYTHERIN, from fen
The first years gathered into the antechamber and McGonagall greeted them all as sternly as she usually did. She was not the maternal sort nor did she think it was appropriate to welcome the students with loving arms, or they would make themselves too much at home and start whining all the time. Well, more than usual. There was a boy absolutely soaked to the skin who was trailing along in Hagrid's giant moleskin coat like he was Princess Diana followed by her long bridal train. McGonagall frowned, noting the boy's likeness to Colin Creevey, but she realized it could always be worse: she could have another Weasley on her hands.
After discussing what would happen during the sorting ceremony and what to do after they were sorted, McGonagall clasped tightly the scroll of first year students' names and opened the double doors to the brightly lit hall. A chorus of hushed 'oohs' and 'ahhs' followed behind her as she led the students to the front of the great hall on the podium in front of the teachers' table. Once the group had come to a halt, Professor McGonagall ceremoniously unrolled the parchment and began calling out names.
"Ackerly, Stewart!" she called out, and a curly-haired blond slowly approached the stool with great trepidation. McGonagall nodded to show that he was doing right and he finally sat down. She placed the sorting hat on his head and it was only a moment before it shouted, "RAVENCLAW!" to the delight of everyone sitting at the Ravenclaw table.
"Cauldwell, Ouen!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
"Creevey, Dennis!"
"GRYFFINDOR!"
There was a light smile that accompanied the heavy sigh she released as this Gryffindor was sorted, but McGonagall carried on. "Maddock, Malcolm!"
"SLYTHERIN!"
"Madley, Laura!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
"McDonald, Natalie!"
"GRYFFINDOR!"
"Peakes, Jimmy!"
"GRYFFINDOR!"
"Pritchard, Graham!"
"SLYTHERIN!"
"Quirke, Orla!"
"RAVENCLAW!"
"Robins, Demelza!"
"GRYFFINDOR!"
"Wenlock, Jonathan!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
As the Wenlock boy ran towards the Hufflepuff table, McGonagall cast a brief glance towards his father, who was applauding proudly from his spot at the teachers' table.
"Wespert, Nigel!"
"GRYFFINDOR!"
"Whitby, Kevin!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
After the last student was sorted, Professor McGonagall rolled up the parchment and removed the Sorting Hat and the stool from the podium, and once she had those set away she joined her place next to Professor Dumbledore at the head table. He made his announcements about the Triwizard Tournament and she heard the loudest protests about the age limit coming from the Weasley twins, who were subjected to her warning glare that promised a week's detention if they didn't shut their mouths. Minerva joined the welcoming applause for the students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, the latter of which she'd assumed to be an all boys' school, but really it turned out that their girls... well, they weren't very handsome young women. The Beauxbatons students were rather impressive looking, none of them looking shabby and all well coiffed and poised. Perhaps she could consider a transfer, she thought with a chuckle.

So why don't you run, why don't you run So why don't you run back to schoolBack to school The train ride to Hogsmeade with the carriage to the castle went along like it had the years before. She had met up with some of her fellow Slytherins on both journeys, most were not even considered friends. But Mo had been there who she had always gotten along with and had seen during the holidays. Kat could see her twin sister had a smile on her face as they walked towards and inside the Great Hall, Kate always loved Hogwarts more then herself, but that was probably due to more friends and a nicer house.
Kat and her so called friends sat down at the Slytherin table which they were soon joined by some others who they greeted and talked to before the first years would make it over to be sorted. Rumors had been going around about Quidditch being banned because of something else that would be happening at the Castle this year but apart from those bits of information no one else seemed to know what was going on, well, some pretended to know everything that was going to happen but Kat ignored these people knowing they were liars.
Mo spotted Hagrid coming in to join the Professor table and they didn't have to wait long for Professor McGongall to walk into the Great Hall with all the first years following her. The sorting hat sang another song which all the older students clapped at, well the other houses clapped at while the Slytherins pretended to, before McGongall started to read out the names to sort the first years. The Slytherins always clapped and gave a half hearted cheered whenever one came to join their table.
Before Kat knew it, the sorting was over and Dumbledore was standing up to make his start of year speech like always. Her sister smiled at her and Kat knew she was wondering if she would be entering or not. Some of her fellow Slytherins might make her do so and would probably be putting their names in also. If her name was to be entered she knew she would have to tell her sister she would be careful and alright if she were to be chosen, which she doubted.
"As from this moment the tri-wizard tournament has begun." The food appeared at that moment and it took no time at all for everything to start talking of what had just happened as they filled up their plates with the delicious food that the feast always had every year. Kat at first listened to the conversations going around her and only added in her thoughts and feelings now and again, including saying that she was thinking about entering herself.
