Appearance:
Severus Snape is not short in stature, nor is he tall but to most people he emits an aura of calm menace and cold that is chilling. He has utterly black eyes, his irises and pupils making the coloured part of his eyes appear as dark as midnight sky.

He usually wears black and tends to wear black robes at all times, due to his thin figure he is said to appear like an oversized bar, along with his very pale skin he can be seen as an archetype of the vampiric image of myth and legend.

Severus Snape has shoulder length black, greasy hair that falls in curtains over his brow that glistens in the light and bounces slightly as he walks. He is confident with the way he holds and conducts himself, always seemingly to look down at those he sees as below him as if viewing them with constant disdain.

Strengths:Master at Potions brewing, duelling, the invention of spells, charms and the dark arts and their defence. Snape is also a master at the technique of occulmency and is capable of legilimency in addition. He is calm and collected at most times and doesn't reveal his emotions bar irritation usually toward Harry Potter.
Weaknesses: Gets irritated easily by Harry Potter and friends, lives a lot in the past and does not forget or forgive easily. Snape keeps all his emotions bottled up this can aid him in his task but can be a distinct weakness when he needs empathy. He's never known real kindness bar that shown to him by Lily so he no desire to show it himself, or the ability to do so. Snape is plagued by regret and he fears this regret and the reason for it being show, especially to Potter.

Personality: Severus Snape is, by his nature cruel, callous and acerbic to those he encounters especially if they are students from Gryffindor House. Whilst this demeanor noticeable softens with Slytherin students Severus Snape could never be described as either nice or friendly.

These negative traits may be a result from the cruel treatment he himself received mostly at the hands of his Muggle father who he sees with nothing but disdain. Severus Snape hides his emotions well, but he tends to live in the past and cannot forgive James Potter for the bullying Snape tolerated from James. As such, Severus Snape tends to get highly irritated and even more vicious with Harry and his friends.

Snape is heavy handed with his punishments and cutting with his statements, whilst he tends to respect his fellow Professors it tends to be a begrudging respect. The only individual who Snape truly respects is Albus Dumbledore. Whilst Snape reverently refers to Voldemort as The Dark Lord, the actual reason for this is not yet seen.

Overall history: Severus Snape grew up in Spinner's End, Mill Town, Great Britain in a small and poorer area of town. His mother was Eileen Prince a witch and his father Tobias Snape, a muggle. Growing up Severus met and fell in love with early Lily Evans. Whilst the two became friends, a friendship that would initially grow stronger during their time at Hogwarts it was these early years that would shape Severus Snape's view point.

His father would beat and intimidate his mother, often with the young Severus cowering in a corner unable to protect his mother. As such, Severus' view point shifted toward a bias against muggles are brutish and cruel, all that he loved in his life so far had been magical. His mother, Lily and magic itself. As such his mindset, ambition and desire made sure he was sorted into Slytherin House in his first year. Saddened that Lily was instead placed into Gryffindor, Severus still maintained a friendship with Lily. The two were close, helping each other in potions a class which Severus Snape became most prodigious at.

During this time Severus developed and wrote his own spells typically dark magic or for use in duelling, all these spells were jotted down in his person text book under the self adopted alias "The Half Blood Prince". During one particular brutal bullying session by James Potter and Sirius Black, Lily Evans rushed to intervene and stop them bullying Snape. In anger Severus Snape told Lily that he didn't need help from a "Mudblood". Whilst his comment was perhaps due to the influence of propaganda from Lucius Malfoy, the damage was done. Lily fell out with Severus Snape a relationship that would never be repaired, as his love would never be reciprocated.

Severus Snape had always thought of joining Voldemort's Death Eaters, an idea that he thought would bring him power and influence. After Lily broke his heart, Severus Snape threw himself further into that desire and upon graduating from Hogwarts became an enlisted Death Eater.

Severus Snape was the individual who informed The Dark Lord of the prophecy concerning the Potters, begging The Dark Lord not to harm Lily. Ultimately, Severus Snape realised what he had done and informed Albus Dumbledore agreeing to spy on Voldemort and to join and inform The Order of the Phoenix in return for the safety of the Potters. Whilst Dumbledore could not save Lily and James, a guilt that Severus Snape lives with until this day; Dumbledore did get Snape to agree to protect Harry Potter and to betray Voldemort to the Order out of his love for Lily.

Snape holds true to his side of the bargain, at least outwardly if nothing else. He joined the staff at Hogwarts, applying for the Defence Against the Dark Arts position but instead was granted Potions and given the role as head of Slytherin House.

During his tenure, whilst he'd never admit it Severus Snape counter cursed the hex placed on Harry's broom, further protecting his young charge out of love for Lily who he lost. Severus Snape's betrayal of the Dark Lord comes at great risk to his life, however in exchange for Dumbledore's help in lessening his guilt and finally doing something right, Severus would do anything. If asked in all truthfulness, Severus Snape wishes he had never joined the Death Eaters and given his time again he wouldn't have done so. This thought alone is often enough to keep him awake at night.

Roleplay sample:
A great gout of emerald green flames issued forth from the opening of the fireplace, enveloping the nearby area in a covering of heat-less flame. This far far too showy an entrance for the normal shadowy style of Severus Snape. However when the dark mark burned the Death Eaters were being summoned by their Dark Lord, his was not a summons that could be ignored. It was all Severus Snape could do to hasten to his masters side. He knew others would be there, his friend Lucius Malfoy among them.

As the flames died down around him, simmering out into small emerald flecks around his feet Severus stepped out from the fireplace. He was well dressed all in black and his hair limp and greasy as usual. Clearly upon receiving the call he had readied himself in a hurry and with little care, but of what matter? He wasn't trying to impress anyone here. Upon stepping out from the embers Severus placed a hand inside his robes locating his wand, just in case. He was never fully at ease. He walked confidently toward the group of assembled people, his true feelings would never betray him in any company, especially not such company as this.

'My apologies if I have kept you waiting,' he sneered the sentiment was barely meant there were few in the room that inspired Severus' respect, bar the Dark Lord himself. The few he cared about he acknowledged with a nod of his head and a hushed word.
'Lucius, Bellatrix, Dolohov, My Lord' the last name leaving his lips with an obvious reverence.

'Are we waiting for more or are we all assembled?'

Severus asked the last part of the question nonchalantly. He had now arrived and was anxious for the meeting to begin, even if he didn't openly show it. With any luck the others would arrive swiftly.
